Beyond Category

I've been writing, thinking, and ranting about supply chain, technology, and how companies (I purposely did not use "corporations" there) need to work better.

At the urging of a few dear people (one, maybe…) I decided to throw my hat into the ring and talk a little about what I've seen in supply chain and enterprise software over the last 10+ years. Who knows? Maybe I'll say something interesting?

I’ve been through some interesting times. I’m in my second startup in nearly six years, its with a good, massivley competent partner who (in all deference to my former business partner from my first startup), delivers. There is something about a business partner — not a set of employees — who come to work every day ready to deliver.

I live in Rhode Island, the smallest state with arguably, the most personality. I like making it up to Boston to see friends, peers and clients and generally enjoying this part of the country.

I have the greatest family in the world, two curious and active little boys and a incredibly patient wife. I cannot think of a better reason to work from home (save the commuting!)

Oh, "Beyond Category?" If you are a fan of Duke Ellington (conducting top left), you know. If you arent (become one and you'll know). I read an interview about the great Mr. Ellington and in it he went on to describe something and absent the words for it, he coined the term, "Beyond Category."
