I've been writing, thinking, and ranting about supply chain, technology, and how companies (I purposely did not use "corporations" there) need to work better.
At the urging of a few dear people (one, maybe…) I decided to throw my hat into the ring and talk a little about what I've seen in supply chain and enterprise software over the last 10+ years. Who knows? Maybe I'll say something interesting?
I’ve been through some interesting times. I’m in my second startup in nearly six years, its with a good, massivley competent partner who (in all deference to my former business partner from my first startup), delivers. There is something about a business partner — not a set of employees — who come to work every day ready to deliver.
I live in Rhode Island, the smallest state with arguably, the most personality. I like making it up to Boston to see friends, peers and clients and generally enjoying this part of the country.
I have the greatest family in the world, two curious and active little boys and a incredibly patient wife. I cannot think of a better reason to work from home (save the commuting!)
Oh, "Beyond Category?" If you are a fan of Duke Ellington (conducting top left), you know. If you arent (become one and you'll know). I read an interview about the great Mr. Ellington and in it he went on to describe something and absent the words for it, he coined the term, "Beyond Category." It's stuck with me over the years and now, dear readers, so are you. Drop me an email if you want to chat offline!

Hi !
I was searching for companies who can provide us with Purchase Order Management / Shipping Process Management software and chanced on your interesting site.
Thought I’d ask you for suggestions of whom i could talk to.
We are in the Shipping / Logistics Service biz.
The software must be able to receive PO details from our customers, allow their vendors at origin to select and booking shipping plans (via Air & Ocean), have our handling agents at the origin interact with with the vendors to be able to receive, containerize and ship the merchandise, capture the information there-after, have our office in the USA process this data and remove the merchandise from the container and despatch it to our customers warehouses within the USA. Track and Search and other MIS would also be expected.
Best regards,
Kevin
